In this article, the estimation of the parameters of the two-layer model for soil resistivity is carried out. This model is widely used in the design of grounding systems. For the estimation, we start from the soil resistivity data measured in the field with the Wenner method. Subsequently, these data are compared with the Tagg resistivity equation that serves as a model, then an error function is established between the model and the data measured in the field. This error function has three variables: upper layer resistivity, lower layer resistivity, and upper layer depth. The error function is minimized with non-linear optimization algorithms and the three most suitable variables for the soil model are obtained.
