The research focuses on the environmental impact of microhybrid vehicles, specifically the Mazda CX-30 equipped with Start-Stop technology, in the city of Quito. Using the NTE INEN 2 203:2000 standard and a BRAIN BEE AGS-688 gas analyzer, tests for pollutant emissions were conducted, highlighting the significance of these vehicles in reducing emissions in congested urban environments. The methodology involved a bibliographic approach to comprehend the functioning of the Mazda CX-30, contextualizing the study in relation to the environmental challenges of vehicular mobility in Quito. Various pollutant gases were measured, and the results complied with local regulations. The discussion centers on the effectiveness of the Start-Stop system, emphasizing its benefits in terms of emission reduction. The importance of considering component durability and consumer perception is emphasized. Despite the benefits, there is a suggestion to investigate potential challenges and optimize Start-Stop systems. In conclusion, microhybrid vehicles, such as the Mazda CX-30, prove to be an effective option for reducing atmospheric pollution and enhancing fuel efficiency in urban settings.
