The present work is focused on the selection of an adequate thermal insulation for a 40 feet container, which will be used as a multidisciplinary laboratory at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Simón Bolívar. Through this study, the best thermal insulation will be selected using the best technical references, specific data, which are economic and environmentally friendly, that can provide this type of materials obtaining the best result and deriving the failures that in the long term can be presented, taking into consideration that the main objective is the thermal isolation of a metallic structure, so that when the 40 feet container is going to be air-conditioned, there will not be any type of inconveniences and an adequate environment will be provided to the students and teachers that are going to use the multidisciplinary laboratory. Currently, thermal insulation is used in several applications, one example being the one used in hospitals, which provides an adequate climate for its users, in this case the use on containers of metallic structure which generally is used for transport of medicines and foods that need of a suitable atmosphere and therefore they use a traditional thermal isolation this type is not most adapted for the atmosphere since in the city of Guayaquil it undergoes climatic changes and often it is subject to so elevated temperatures that surpass the 36°C and these abrupt changes can affect in great way the equipment of air conditioning that they install in the container, as well as the equipment and the users in this case students and teachers in general.
