La fundición de aluminio en Ecuador es utilizada para elaborar piezas metálicas, así como también utensilios de cocina, el mismo que contribuye a disminuir la contaminación de sólidos de aluminio al medio ambiente al volverlos a reutilizarlos. El Instituto Superior Tecnológico Central Técnico no cuenta con la maquinaria necesaria para ésta tarea, puesto que sus costos son elevados. El objetivo del presente artículo es implementar un horno de crisol basculante que cumpla con las normas de seguridades respectivas, además que sea de bajo costo, eficiente y que beneficie al I.S.T. Central Técnico. Para la recopilación de información se utilizó referencias bibliográficas y encuestas realizadas a estudiantes, educandos de la institución, dueños de fundidoras y operarios de las mismas. El resultado obtenido permitió escoger el diseño del sistema de seguridad que permita el vaciado de aluminio fundido y hacer un análisis más profundo para disminuir los costos de fabricación. Se realizaron pruebas de vaciado y tiempo de calentamiento, con lo que se concluyó que la máquina está en condiciones adecuadas para ser usada.
