Implementation of a plug-in system in the third generation Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle

In hybrid vehicles, one of the biggest problems it has is the useful life of the high voltage batteries due to their autonomy and durability. The research presents an improvement in the electrical self-sufficiency of the third-generation Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle by adapting the plug-in system and high-voltage parallel batteries. Dynamic tests are carried out using a protocol model in order to carry out travel tests with the vehicle in hybrid condition and with the plug-in system, the same ones that were used to determine the route in the city in the metropolitan district of Quito (100 km) and on the highway. from the city of Latacunga to the city of Quito (108 km), it is monitored through the use of a computer interface (OBDLink SX EOBD), which shows the fuel consumption in gallons and the distance traveled in miles, allowing to discover a relationship between distance and fuel consumption, where the increase in electrical self-efficiency of 48 [Km] in the city and 20 [Km] on the highway was verified
